Get started
- Download and extract the ZIP into a local folder.
- Open Portable\ScottywinsOfficeToPDF.exe.
- Choose Office file types, then browse to your source and PDF output folders.
- Click Convert to PDF. Click Continue batch at each pause.
Conversion opens originals read-only. Review & Finish can permanently delete visually verified originals only after an optional deletion checkbox and exact DELETE confirmation. Use Skip existing PDFs to resume. Batches count Office files, not individual pages.
Publisher, Word, Excel & PowerPoint to PDF
Select one or more Office file types and convert a whole folder in batches:
- Microsoft Publisher: .pub
- Microsoft Word: .doc and .docx
- Microsoft Excel: .xls and .xlsx
- Microsoft PowerPoint: .ppt and .pptx
The matching desktop Microsoft Office program must be installed and activated on the conversion PC. Your original Office files are opened read-only; the converter never saves changes to them or deletes them.
Include subfolders, preserve folder structure, and skip existing PDFs to resume a batch. For office teams, the employee folder list pairs each source folder with its own PDF destination, including mapped server drives. New employee entries automatically use a Converted to PDF folder inside that employee’s folder; the app creates it during conversion. The app pauses between batches and when the output drive needs more free space.
Review & Finish
Check your PDFs, then select verified files individually or with Select all. Finish moves PDFs beside originals with normal .pdf names. Changed files and existing PDFs are blocked. Empty Converted to PDF folders are removed; folders containing files are kept.
Originals are kept by default. Optional permanent deletion requires typing DELETE. Review records survive a PC restart under the same Windows account. Only conversions recorded by version 1.7.2 or later appear.
Automatic update checks & install
The app checks for updates at startup and every six hours while it is open. When a newer version is available, a popup offers Download update or Later. Notifications wait until active conversions finish.
Version 1.7.7 supports downloading a verified update from inside the app, then installing it and restarting after you confirm. The app closes briefly during replacement. Your saved settings and license are retained, and you do not need to extract another ZIP for this update method.
You can also use the Updates tab to check manually. Older versions may require downloading and extracting the ZIP to upgrade first. Keep the app extracted in a local folder rather than running it from inside an archive.
Scottywins Publisher Recovery
Recover old Publisher files with LibreOffice. One user-reported legacy recovery succeeded. Please test your files and inspect every PDF page.
Download Recovery 1.1.5 test bundle with LibreOffice
Smaller Recovery 1.1.5 download — LibreOffice required separately | Original 1.0.0
Small source-only package for reviewers (under 1 MB)
1.1.5 adds Show failed files for filenames, reasons, copying and earlier saved runs. Earlier versions added a saved employee folder list with multi-folder selection. Each listed employee receives a separate Converted to PDF folder. Fixed title text. The app downloads only the EXE for updates. Earlier updates added automatic verified updates with installation and restart, a retained backup and startup rollback. Recovery 1.1.3 and newer can install EXE-only updates from the app after conversion finishes. Older versions require one manual upgrade. It also moves the LibreOffice program location into Settings, simplifies the title bar, and adds Help & About with company and third-party notices. Includes batch pauses, restart-safe review receipts, collision and file-change checks, optional permanent original deletion with exact DELETE confirmation, empty recovered-folder cleanup, a three-success trial and separate Recovery licenses. Originals remain intact during recovery. Real employee-PC testing of these added features is still required.
Internal use: $39.95 USD per PC per month or $159.99 USD per PC lifetime. Covers your own or your organization’s files; paid conversion services for others require the Commercial edition — contact us for pricing. Online checkout is disabled during testing. Contact support for Recovery licensing.
LibreOffice is separately licensed Free Software, included as its unmodified installer with notices and source links. Scottywins paid-service restrictions do not apply to LibreOffice. Recovery licenses and Review & Finish records are separate from Office to PDF.
